As many of you will know on Wednesday 8th April 2020, we were devastated to find that overnight our minibus had been stolen from Safeharbour . This minibus was previously used to provide vital transport to enable people living with dementia to attend The Beacon Day Support. However, with this service suspended at the time due to coronavirus, we had been using the bus to help local hospitals discharge medically fit patients into our care at home service.
Although we had insurance on this vehicle, this would not cover the full amount needed to replace the specially adapted minibus so that vulnerable people living with dementia could access The Beacon Day Support. We immediately launched a fundraising campaign and were overwhelmed with the response we received from the community.
We are delighted to let you all know that thanks to the generosity of our supporters we have now met our fundraising target and have been able to order the new bus. Due to the bus being made to order with specific adaptations necessary we are likely to have a bit of a wait until it can be delivered but nevertheless, we are so incredibly grateful to be in this position.
We cannot thank you all enough for the kindness you have shown us through this difficult time and look forward to showing you our brand new minibus in the coming months.
