Almost one million people in the UK are living with dementia, and the majority of these are over the age of 65 years and living with other health conditions. Whilst living with dementia at any time brings challenges for the person with dementia and those around them, the temporary cessation of social care and support services can have a considerable and detrimental effect on their daily lives and physical and mental wellbeing. We carried out a survey and follow up qualitative interviews to
understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions and people’s experiences of accessing support provided by Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support services during this period.
